Family Activities to enjoy each Sunday 12.30 -  4pm

We continue with our popular ‘Family Sunday’ activities through the Autumn and Winter. Every Sunday your family can participate in a farming, gardening or art related activity. We have some very special things planned for you again this season with the chance to make winter food for birds and help the gardeners plant some of the thousands of bulbs that will create a wonderful array of colour in Spring. You can help create an ‘insect hotel’ and make an exciting festive border for our Christmas garden.

22nd August- Meet the Animals

29th August- Make a grass head

5th September- Tour with Roman

12th September- Artmaking using natural materials

19th September - Help to create an 'Insect Hotel'

26th September- Meet Farmer Eamon who will be introducing our pigs

Every Sunday in October we will have a special Hallowe’en themed activity including our greatly loved ‘Conkers Bonkers’ day on the 10th October, three scarecrow making Family Sundays on the 3rd. 17th and 24th  and our big Hallowe’en day celebration on the 31st. See below for further details

Conkers Bonkers

String up your conkers and get ready to go bonkers! This is one of the best loved days in our calendar- there are all kinds of our original conker inspired games to enjoy including ruler shooter conker, the conker rally and an ultimate conker champion waiting to be crowned!

Scarefield’ - Family Sundays

3rd October; 17th October; 24th October 12.30-4pm Ticket price included in entry fee to the estate Season ticket holders come free

Help to create a giant field of scarecrows at Airfield - come along to decorate them on one (or all three) of our dedicated Scarefield Family Sundays in October! Just bring along old clothes, accessories and your imagination! Every week the numbers of scarecrows will grow until we reach the grand finale on Sunday October 31st- our big Hallowe’en celebration at Airfield.

Hallowe’en Family Fun Day

Come along to our annual Hallowe’en celebration for all the family, an unmissable day of fun and seasonal activities to celebrate the festival of ghosts and ghoulies. Make a miniature ghost, follow a special Hallowe’en trail, enjoy spooky storytelling  and contribute to our exciting giant field of scarecrows – don’t forget to bring along old clothes, hats and accessories to help dress one for this special Hallowe’en fest.

Young Farmers & Gardeners

‘Green Wellies’ and ‘Green Fingers’

September 25th, October 30th, November 27th 10am to midday €15 per session Airfield’s clubs for young gardeners (8-11yrs) and young farmers (11-14yrs) are back at Airfield this Autumn on the last Saturday of the month. Our young gardeners will be growing flowers, fruit and vegetables from seed and our young farmers will be helping Farmer Eamon preparing housing for our animals for the winter months…and lots more. Wrap up warmly for the crisp Autumn mornings and don’t forget your wellies!
