Summer Teacher Training

Airfield Estate will be running 3 DES approved Summer courses again this year. Each course will run from Monday 3rd – Friday 7th July 2017.

All courses are bookable through from 5pm on the 5th May. Our courses tend to book up quickly so we would suggest booking as early as possible to ensure your place.

Option 1: Beginner Guide to School Gardens, Nature and Nutrition
Aimed at Teachers with new or soon to be school gardens, this course will help you to plan, use and grow your school garden. It will also demonstrate, using hands-on and interactive methodologies, how you can involve your students in the care and maintenance of the garden and include it in your SESE activities. Spending time with our Airfield experts will include working with our education team, head gardeners and head chefs, so you will gain plenty of insight into how to get students excited about using the garden!

Option 2: Advanced Guide to School Gardens, Nature and Nutrition
This course will suit teachers who have either a mature school garden or have attended our Beginners course previously. The course will focus on problem solving in the garden and extending the use of the garden beyond SESE into other curricular areas. Our Airfield Experts will guide you through how to see and use your garden as an extension of the classroom and encourage you to experience your school garden in a new and exciting way.

Option 3: Using Nature and Heritage to Inspire the Arts.
Teachers will explore how using history and nature can allow you to explore the visual arts. Our expert Airfield Artist will work with you to explore how cross curricular links in SESE and History can improve and advance the visual arts you utilise in the classroom. Building your own journal and adding to it as the week goes along will encourage you to improve on (or learn!) your artistic skillset for the coming academic year
