Most of our events defy classification and our Bookworms Invade Airfield event, in collaboration with Children’s Books Ireland, is one of those. It was full of creativity, learning and inspiration, but above all, pure enjoyment! We were delighted with the number of enthusiastic young readers and budding illustrators who turned up to this event.

Every Sunday there are drop-in activities for children and families to enjoy. These range from planting the wildflower meadow with the gardeners in spring to digging potatoes with the farmers at summer’s end or perhaps joining artists to make dream catchers or making hibernating animals from clay.

Airfield’s book swap grew out of a love of books and a desire to be sustainable. It quickly became a gathering place for book lovers of all ages who entered into the spirit of thing by donating books and recommendations generously.
