Bee Keeping

Are you interested in keeping bees and producing your own honey, but don’t know where to start?

Join local beekeeper Brian O’Toole from Wildacres for our 1-day weekend workshop, giving an introduction to the fascinating world of bees and beekeeping.

Learn all about the lifecycle of the honeybee, getting started and managing a hive of bees through the different seasons, extracting your own honey and the different types of honey you can produce. The workshop will also give an introduction to our fascinating wild bees and other wild pollinators and the plants that they rely on for nectar and pollen.

As part of the workshop you will get the opportunity to don a bee suit and see inside one of our beehives at the Airfield Apiary.

This workshop will take place at Airfield Estate, sturdy footwear such as walking boots should be worn and ankles well covered.
