July Garden Tour and Floristry Demonstration

  Enjoy a relaxing summer tour of our organically grown ornamental gardens, led by one of our resident horticulturalists, followed by refreshments and a floral demonstration. During the floral demonstration, Vivienne Brophy, Airfield Estate’s collaborating florist, will provide you with the skills required to create a summer handtied spiralled bouquet, which can be designed for a bridal occasion, a gift, or to be put in a vase. All decorative foliage and florals will be sourced from Airfield Estate’s organic gardens. Details The event will commence at 10 am with a garden tour. The tour will include a walk through the garden and an in-depth look at the cut flower beds. Following the garden tour, coffee/tea and pastries will be provided. Vivienne Brophy, Airfield Estate’s collaborating florist, will demonstrate creating a summer bouquet. Utilising foliage, grasses, blooms from the fields, herbaceous borders, and cutting beds in Airfield Estate, our floristry classes are designed to guide making sustainable and creative choices when designing arrangements of foliage and blooms for the seasonal decoration of living spaces or workplaces. Sustainability advice will be embedded throughout the demonstration, guidance, and discussion. The guidance provided within the workshop will include selecting quantities and types of foliage, blooms and materials, conditioning, and preparation of the material, design techniques, completion of foliage, and inserting blooms. Information on maintenance will also be provided. One lucky participant will go home with the demonstration bouquet.
