AIRFIELD ESTATE CHRISTMAS EXPERIENCE SUSTAINABILITY STATEMENT
Sustainability is front and centre of all that we do at Airfield, and our Christmas Experience is no exception. We are committed to creating a unique and wonderful event with a minimal environmental impact. From the concept design to responsible management of all event waste, we take sustainability seriously and work with partners who share these goals.
Sustainable practices
- Key installations are designed, and hand crafted in-house
- Upcycled items of furniture and resources are widely used
- Our priority is to use natural materials (we use minimal plastic, and no tinsel)
- Materials for many onsite activities are sourced from Recreate.ie
- Printed collateral is kept to a minimum, and printed on recycled paper where possible
- Gifts from Santa are selected for their sustainability, and minimal external packaging
- All wooden gifts are made from sustainable wood
- Selected books are printed on recycled paper using vegan ink
- Gifts from Santa are presented in a reusable, Calico drawstring bag
- Elf costumes are sourced from charity shops (mainly tweeds, corduroy, and velvet)
- Many elf accessories are hand-knit in-house
- Hot chocolate is made using milk from Airfield’s Dromartin Jersey Herd
- All beverage cups and utensils are 100% compostable
- Baked treats served from the Claus Café are made by our in-house bakery
- Waste from all events is fully segregated
- Organic waste is processed in our digester, converting it into a soil improver
