Floral Arranging at Airfield Estate
Join Vivienne Brophy from Number Ten Floral for a series or upcoming floral arranging demos and workshop at Airfield Estate. An architect, Vivienne has combined her architectural career with design creativity in art and floristry. Her creative background provides a unique design approach to floral design. Vivienne has 25 years teaching experience on the theme of sustainability in UCD Architecture and espouses to the architectural principle of ‘less is more’. She undertook the professional floristry course at McQueens Flower School London.
Spring Planter Demo
21st March (postponed due to COVID-19 closure)
This demonstration will focus on designing a plant-based Spring arrangement in a large planting trough. Vivienne Brophy of Number Ten floral will give a demonstration highlighting container choice, planting design and the container mix right through to finishing and maintenance.
Easter Egg Floral Cascade Workshop
4th April (postponed due to COVID-19 closure)
This workshop will focus on providing skills to create a long oval cascade that could be used as an Easter door decoration or a long table decoration made with decorative foliage and blown egg decoration.
Lead by Vivienne from Number Ten this hands-on workshop will cover sustainable foam selection, quality and quantity of foliage, finishing and decoration.
Hand Tied Spiralled Bouquet
This demonstration will focus on providing skills to make a summer hand-tied spiralled bouquet, which can be customised for a wedding, a gift or to be put in a cylinder vase. Vivienne Brophy from Number Ten will advise on selection, quantity and conditioning of blooms and foliage, technical spiralling technique, tying and finishing a bouquet.
Large Layered Floral Arrangement
This demonstration will focus on providing skills to make a large summer floral arrangement in a large urn or ceramic vessel that could be placed on a hall table or outdoor venue. Vivienne Brophy from Number Ten will advise on specific summer blooms and stems, form and texture, design tricks and completion of foliage first and inserting blooms.
Autumnal Foral Structures
This demonstration will focus on providing skills to suspend seasonal branches, seedheads and grasses. Vivienne from Number Ten will advise on appropriate structures, scale and form, selection of appropriate foliage and seedheads, fresh and dried, water requirements, tying and wiring using foliage and blooms selected from Airfield Estate’s fields, herbaceous and cutting beds. This class will give you insight into how to make sustainable choices, give guidance about conditioning and preparation and the creative arrangement of foliage and blooms for seasonal decoration.
