Transition Year

Airfield Experience

Airfield Estate houses a wealth of opportunities for transition year students to get involved with food, farming and the land it comes from. Students will explore the nature trails with our education guides, meet the farmer and resident gardeners whilst getting their hands dirty and understanding where their food stories begin.

Beginners Agricultural Science

Aimed at helping transition year students without an agricultural background, or encouraging those who might be interested in taking it up as a leaving cert subject. We offer a change to meet our farmer and gardeners as well as giving the students an opportunity to walk, talk and get hands-on with the topics they will be learning about in the future, as well as understanding a little more about food production and animal husbandry.

TY Work Experience

We offer students a one-week block of work experience that will involve work in a number of areas across the estate including our restaurant, farm, gardens, education and facilities. We’re looking for students who like to work outdoors and who have an interest in nature, food, farming and gardening!
